BMW's U.S. factory hits export record, China becomes largest consumer

BMW officials stated that BMW America has become the largest automobile exporter in the United States for eight consecutive years, setting another record.

Information shows that BMW’s factory in Spartanburg exported 257,876 BMW vehicles in 2021, with a total export volume of more than 10.1 billion U.S. dollars, and exports to more than 120 countries. The top 5 countries are respectively They are China (24.1%), Germany (12.3%), South Korea (9.4%), Canada (5.6%), and the United Kingdom (5.4%).

Currently, BMW’s Spartanburg plant in the United States has approximately 11,000 employees and an annual production capacity of 450,000 vehicles. It will put into production the BMW XM model by the end of 2022. In 2021, BMW produced a total of 433,810 BMW X vehicles at its U.S. factories, and sold 179,840 vehicles in the United States. The best-selling models are the BMW X3 and BMW X5.
